Dental work grants
Is there such a thing as a grant for dental work? I would love to have dental implants or even false upper teeth as I only have 3 broken teeth and one full tooth in my upper jaw. I am embarrassed to smile or talk to people because I feel judged even though I am sure it is my own embarrassment. Any information would be helpful. Not sure if this is the right subreddit but should i be concerned about this tooth
First off, I am not exactly the most fond of going to the dentist but I do go on a semi-regular basis. My last visit to the dentist they did not notice any problem with my teeth and to me its been like this for many years. But it seems a tad sensitive lately. I took the best picture I can shown HERE and it feels like there is an actual recessed area where my gum receded and sometimes I find food getting stuck in that area. I have always had kind of sensitive teeth so if I were to put my finger nail into that area it is kind of sensitive.
Do you think this is any cause for concern?

Wisdom tooth, overbite [maybe] and whitening
6 years ago my top left molar right at the back shattered when I was eating mac n cheese. After having the edges smoothed by my dentist I got major infection which was agonizing across my entire mouth. The dentist - after a week of antibiotics - pulled the tooth with what I can only describe as the most distressing sound I've ever heard inside my skull.
Since then another tooth has grown in that spot. Thing is, it seems to be quite a fair distance away from its closest neighbor and it feels as if its not come out all the way either - it's not level with the rest of my teeth. Is this a wisdom tooth now? When I was 18 my dentist said that if they came through, I'd have to have my wisdoms removed...
Also, I've never thought I had an overbite but my top jaw closest over my bottom jaw where the top teeth sort of wrap in front of the bottom ones... Is this normal?
Lastly, how the bleeding hell do I go about whitening my teeth? I brush regularly with all of this "extra strength whitening" toothpaste but it doesn't help at all... Definitely my teeth are stained by coffee and whatever else but I just can't get them white again... Help?

Dental office removed abutments for a cleaning, now trying to charge for new ones
I'm asking this for my father, who had dental implants put in two years ago and is an uncomfortable situation with his dental office. The title sums up the situation pretty well, but here are some more details. This clinic was the one that put in the implants two years ago and within this last month gave my father an estimate of about $100 for having the abutments shipped to a lab for cleaning. Then they tell my father that he has to get new abutments costing him way more than he can afford at the moment. When my father asked about his original ones they took out, they seem to be gone and haven't been put back in (misplaced maybe?). I guess I'm asking if it's normal to have abutments replaced so often, or if there is something shady going on. My dad is now walking around with an empty implant and can't go back and pay for a new abutment.. We've never had an issue with this office before, my whole family has been going there for around 8 years and they do great quality work.

Wisdom Tooth Extraction
I'm getting my bottom two wisdom teeth extracted tomorrow. They're straight up, but my jaw is oddly shaped, so they're tissue impacted. The oral surgeon told me that it's better to get all four pulled, since without anything stopping them, they'll continue growing. I wanted to see if that was true, since the top ones aren't giving me any problems. If they do, we're prepared to get them extracted later. But not all at once.

Learned too late
Hello everyone. I'm a 29 year old from Michigan, U.S.A. I'm writing to finally open up about how bad my oral Heath is. I grew up in a pretty broken home and my parents never really cared about anything other than drinking and fighting with each other. So oral Heath was far down on the list of things to instill in their children. Now I'm 29, married, and have an amazing 1 year old son, and I'm in constant pain. My teeth are rotting out, I've had numerous infections and it got so bad that I even pulled one of my own teeth out to help subside the pain. Unfortunately, I'm not in a place where I can afford dental insurance and don't have the kind of money it would take to fix my teeth. I suffer from really bad anxiety and depression and I'm sure they're both linked to the fact of how embarrassed I feel. I never smile, I don't even like talking to people in fear that they will see my awful teeth. So if anyone takes anything from this please let it be this, take care of your teeth, see a dentist regularly. Or else you'll end up like me, just dealing with constant pain until all of your teeth rot out and then maybe be able to afford dentures by then. Please take care of yourself. The Tooth Above My Cracked Molar is Going Up Into Gums. It hurts to swallow and is putting pressure on my face/nose. How Serious Is it and Can it cause fatigue?
Hi, I have a molar that vertically cracked a while back which i'm getting taken care of, but the tooth above it has been shifting ever since because ican't bite down on it probably,so on one side of the tooth it's getting pushedup into the gum. I usually could manage,and afteri got a filling/rootcanal it seemed to get better. But the filling started going away, so i put some filling repair (dentek temparin) in it, and it's been getting worse. It seems to shift every time I swallow, and I sometimes accidentally bite all the way down which makes it go up into the gum. This puts pressure on my face and I believe is making me tired. I'm not in unbearable pain or anything, just tired, uncomfortable, and worried because it feels like my teeth are shifting.

Retainer (I don't know where to put this)
I wore my retainer for a sold year and a half without slipping up, I don't even have to go to ortho any more, however, I just chipped a tooth and they don't fit my filling, should I bother getting a new retainer? (Its like an invisaline retainer)

I'm interested in getting a couple teeth pulled and replaced with dentures.
I'm 25 and don't want to go the whole braces route since I'm sure it will be a few years for my teeth. So I figured I'd just get the bad ones pulled an replaced with dentures. I'm basically looking for thoughts or concerns so I know how to talk to my dentist so I get the best work for an affordable price.
What are some things that I need o know. Price? Cleaning? Pain? Look? Recovery process? Replacing?

dental probelms wish i could die
its about 12000 to pull and fix my mouth,im embarassed to smile or talk and very shy due to not wanting to be noticed.its horrible to feel this way about something u cant fix and didnt do drugs to cause.im still younger and i have a life to live but if u cant be happy why live.ur heart hurts when u cant smile or laugh.

Help me get an idea what I'm in for?
I just moved to a new city and I am going to pick a dentist this week. I have a little bit of a back story/issue and I'm really not sure what steps I need to take.
I've had dental issues my entire life, a little bit because of genetics, and a little bit because I have a medical issue that requires that I drink a harsh blend of amino acids every day. My enamel is shot. I don't think that's the exact cause of my problem right now though. I also have anxiety issues and as a result, grind my teeth in my sleep. I also find myself clenching my jaw a lot. I'm really trying hard to stop doing that though.
Over the past year one tooth in particular has started giving me trouble. Back in, I think, November I was experiencing pain in a way I never felt before and my dentist told me I had sprained the ligament of the tooth because of how much I was grinding my teeth. Her treatment was to tell me to keep taking my anxiety medication and to work on not grinding my teeth. I did my best.
Around Thanksgiving I developed severe pain spasms on the same side of my face. Worst pain of my entire life. The doctor in the emergency room diagnosed me with a middle ear infection and sinusitis. I was given antibiotics and pain meds. after two weeks I was still experiencing a lot of pain, especially near the tooth affected by grinding and the tooth directly above it. I went back to my dentist because I was at a loss of what to do. My regular doctor basically told me to wait it out, but couldn't tell me how much longer. Call me crazy, but I still have trouble believing earache and sinus -itis could cause that kind of pain. We are talking weeping into my hands in the emergency room kind of pain
Another week later I was still having pain that stopped me in my tracks if I put anything cold in my mouth. My dentist took x-rays and showed me the sinus infection was definitely present enough to show up in dental x-rays, but also said it should only be a few more days. by New Year's eve, I was almost back to normal.
In the past two weeks though, I've noticed there is now some pain in both teeth originally affected by my grinding. Absolutely no trouble with cold, but if I clinched my teeth together it's almost a weird kind of numb/pain. It kind of feels like the bottom tooth is a little taller than it should be.
I'm going to try taking some over-the-counter anti-inflammatories, but if this doesn't clear up in a few more days, I think it's time to see another dentist. or endodontist?
The dentist I had for the past two years didn't seem to think I needed to do anything extra, but at one point she mumbled something about referring me to an endodontist to her assistant. when I questioned her about anything further I can do to help, she said before I did anything else I needed to work on not grinding my teeth anymore.
So I'm about to start my search for a new dentist anyway, and I'm just wondering if this is something that sounds like a common issue? I don't even know. I'm familiar with cavities, fluoride treatments, and that's about it. I don't really know what questions I should be asking, or how much I should push for further action. Or is this just one of those things where I have to throw up my hands and go "this is my life now."
