Hi. I work in the care industry and one of the people I look after has no teeth and cannot wear dentures. This person is severely intellectually disabled so she can't spit out mouthwash etc. We brush her gums and tongue twice a day with a soft toothbrush but she doesn't like it at all and will actively resist the toothbrush. Does anyone have any suggestions for proper dental care for this lady? I feel like there must be an easier way

Since I'm new here and didn't put my title into axquestion, I was asked to re submit my question.
I went back to Aspen Dental yesterday because my 3 year old crown just fell out. I don't eat anything hard(pretzels steak etc) or tacky(candy gum etc) and was told that it can't be saved underneath due to decay. Ok how does that happen? I brush Floss rinse. I only get $1,000 a year in coverage through work. Because of shoddy work in the past I've had to have many pulled in the back. Again yesterday The Aspen dental dentist had me in tears he has no compassion at all. He basically said that I can't afford to fix them and should just have what I have left pulled (all 15). I'm a woman who put my kids before myself all 25 years; raising them now my daughter's due soon and the fathers just not helping. I feel like I'm digging a hole for myself. I don't smile and when I do its mouth closed. I'm not opposed to partials but I have dignity. I'd like ty o keep SOME in the front! My question is is there anyone out there that can PLEASE HELP ME? ! I've entered dental contests relentless. I work hard but have bills to pay so I can't just put away and save. Doctor put me on erythromycin for my severe jaw pain that pain meds won't help.
For my health sake I'm not beneath begging for help now. I want to smile, eat normal foods and be confident again. Please don't slam me I feel bad enough as it is. And yes I can get my X rays I just need help uploading it as I don't know how to do it. I'm not tech savvy

Top two came in straight with plenty of room, bottom right one has been causing me discomfort and impact on my front bottom teeth (central incisor is shifting under my lateral).
I know I'm going to have to go for surgery to have my wisdom teeth removed, I'm okay with that. My question is this:
What is this that I pulled out from between my gum and wisdom tooth?
I was in a lot of pain, gently gnawing on the rubber part of my tooth brush, when this sharp object broke gum. I took a flashlight to my mouth and saw what looked like a tiny piece of food stuck under the gum, but I knew that couldn't be possible because the tooth hadn't come to head until just now. I grabbed a toothpick and picked it out.
Its rock hard and very sharp. Is this a piece of tooth? Is the tooth breaking down before its even really come in?
Edit: Just wanted to include that the pain I had been dealing with on and off for months is almost nonexistent now since I pulled that hard mass out.

I woke up yesterday with excruciating pain in my front teeth and headed straight to the dentist. After some X-Rays she told me that a deep filling I had in my front right tooth (done about 8 years ago) seemed to be too deep, hitting the tooth's nerve. She referred me to an endodontist. So I guess I have a couple questions here: Is it possible that since the filling is older, it simply has to be redone or do I definitely need a Root Canal?
What is the process like for having a Root Canal on a front tooth?
I remember getting a root canal on a molar years ago and they chiseled the tooth down to nothing and placed a big bulky temporary crown on it until I could get fitted for a permanent solution. I am going to be travelling for business in 2 weeks and am really worried about having a funny tooth right in front. Will this tooth need a crown?
All your answers are greatly appreciated. I know its hard to advise without seeing x-rays but I have to wait until tomorrow to call the endodontist and any answers from your experiences are helpful.
Thank you!
Background: 29, hadn't been to a dentist in a few years, but had been brushing well and flossing a few times a week. I went to a new dentist after being referred through 1-800-dentists. I only did this because my old dentist is now 3 hours away.
The new dentists office did a cleaning and took tons of x-Rays, which I can post if that would help. The dentist recommended that I had a crown put on my upper left, second from the back molar. She said it was fairly close to the nerve, but a root canal wasn't necessary. I booked it, even though I had had no pain whatsoever.
The filling and molds took place in late December. Their office can't create them in house, so I had to wait until January 12th. The crown is not porcelain or metal, I forget the name of the material, but it was later-made.
I could tell the crown was high when she put it in, and everything was really sensitive. She said to wait to see how things felt in the morning. Needless to say, in the morning I called in tears needing a bite adjustment. At that appointment she took a LOT off. It felt ok, but a few weeks later, in February, I went back in because my sensitivity was still really high and my lower opposing molar was starting to have pain.
I went to another dentist for a second opinion. I haven't had them do anything, but they did say the crown was possibly still a bit high just by doing the blue paper.
Cut to now, after a few weeks with no pain, but chewing on the left side is still very uncomfortable and the sensitivity is very high. It goes away really quickly, but anything remotely off temp hurts. I called to do another bite adjustment, and they said the dentist wants to re-do the crown altogether. My main concern is that it was tall to begin with, how am I to know I won't have the same issue. I haven't had any pain until she started drilling, and now I can only chew on one side of my mouth. I'll answer questions, but my main one is, do you think this time will be any different?
Thanks in advance.
I am going insane right now. I hate where I live more than anything. I have severe dental problems that need taken care of asap or it could be fatal, but I can't get insurance not even from my public assistance office and no dentist will take payments. The dentist I seen yesterday wants $11, 378 for everything I need done. How could I possibly afford that when I have 4 kids and a fiance to support. Not to mention we are on the verge of losing the house we live in cuz the landlord is letting it get foreclosed instead of paying her mortgages or fixing things that need fixed. I have an infection in my mouth that is causing the left side of my jaw to swell up like there's a baseball in it. I was able to get antibiotics from the before mentioned dentist and have been taking them but what good is that gonna do if I can't afford to even have the work done. I can't blame anyone but myself for being in this situation cuz when I was younger I would get lazy and would rather play video games or go outside then take 2 mins to take care of my teeth. But u would think that my public assistance office would at least help since that's what they are there for, the ppl who need the help. I know my teeth are a big thing stopping me from getting a job cuz it isn't a pretty sight. I can't smile out in public cuz I'm to embarrassed about them myself. I just wish I could get some help to get this taken care of, I'm scared of it getting worse or even fatal. But thank u all for listening to me rant and rave, hopefully I can find some help soon before it's too late.

I had 3 pregnancies so far the first one 9 years ago. I got so sick during all for the entire pregnancy Especially the last one due to it not being a sustainable pregnancy. My teeth took the toll they are now so bad I can't smile or be in pictures with my kids. I am looking for advice on places or clinics that would take payments plans as I do not have enough for a lump sum payment and I can't take out a credit card which is what most dentists tell you to do. I just want to be able to smile again and not be embarrassed.
If anyone has any information they could give me about this subject I would be forever grateful!

Underwent a root canal last week, and went back for the crown today. Immediately, it didn't feel right, and my dentist made several attempts to get it right. After a while, he began to worry that continuing to work with it would run down the porcelain to the metal. I was pretty numbed up as he decided to perform a filling (or 4) while he was already at it. So he suggested that I wait for the numbness to wear off, and see how it felt after a day or two. Well, it's been about an hour since the numbness went away, and I'm ready for some food. First bite, and it is beyond uncomfortable. It's preventing any of my other teeth from connecting without me altering my jaw. And it feels like I'm just biting into a rock. Is this normal, and I'm just not used to porcelain in my mouth, or do I have a real issue?

Now, she is developing a black and white crust around the very base of her bottom teeth. Not the gum line, but lower, where the roots would be.

The traditional denture is sitting on top of the gums and does not allow maintaining the existing bone level. The jaw bone is resorbing/shrinking and becomes thinner over time. Thus, gradually your dentures will be less stable. The traditional denture can move and feel unstable on your gums which will cause continual discomfort and in some cases frequent irritations/ulcers.
A complete denture upper or lower denture over implants will maintain facial structure and prevent bone loss in the jaws. This type of denture is completely safe, it will not move, thus provide more comfort, stability and will provide you effective mastication.
A full denture replaces all teeth on top, bottom or both and the supporting tissue (bone and gums) that always keep changing always after the extractions. It recovers and sits on top the residual gum/ridge, in the case of a top denture the palate will also be recovered. The dentures hold only by suction, the edges of the denture are sealed by the soft tissues.
